Our real estate agent, michele, reported that she was asked by a couple to look at their home and give them an idea of what their total cost would be to upgrade everything to make it look like new. She was told not to include the cost of remodeling the bathroom because “people don’t buy based on that.”
When she showed up at the home, she was told that the couple didn’t want to spend a dime on remodeling. They had Edmond New Homes about the cost of updating things.
But the wife was especially upset that the builder had not spent any money on updating the home. She felt it was a waste of money because the home wasn’t built to last.
Michele explained that while it was true that the home wasn’t built to last, there were actually many things about the home that were built to last. The builder
just didn’t include the cost of remodeling them. She suggested that the couple look into new homes that were built closer to their current home. Those new homes would be more expensive, but she was told that they would be more comfortable and would last longer than the older home.
So the couple decided to upgrade their bathroom instead of moving. But because it was already built, they wanted to reuse it.

Finally, after several more offers were rejected, they decided to go with a home that had been reduced to $10 more than the average new home. It was a good deal, but again, the agent missed some critical information.
NewHome therefore missed the reason the couple went with them in the first place. They tried to sell the home with unappreciated peppy language, but in reality, the bank or investors had nothing to do with the decision.
The couple tried to have a conversation about what was wrong with their home, but the agent didn’t seem to understand what was wrong either.
“It was like talking to a wall,” said the wife. “They didn’t understand our concerns. They were just selling our home.”
