Edmond Home Builders | Our Construction Process
We are here to guide you and help you so you know what to expect when you work with Edmond Home Builders. We want you to be informed and educated about the process so that you can make the best decisions for your family needs. If you ever have any questions or don’t understand any steps, will be there to help you through it all. You should also make a special note to file for homestead exemption on your property taxes. This can be done as soon as you receive your recorded deed back from the mortgage company at the courthouse.
Edmond Home Builders will create a plot plan of your lot showing the location of your home on the property. The building plans will be submitted to the developer or architect committee for their approval. This is also where we will get all city or county permits. The banks will require building plans and specifications for property appraisal prior to closing of our construction loan. Due to the nature of government bureaucracy, it is not unusual for these processes to take 3 to 4 weeks. Also, at this time we will order windows, doors, and brick.
We, Edmond Home Builders, recommends that within three days after the execution of your purchase agreement, you should schedule an appointment with our design consultant to finalize selections for your new home. A timely selection process allows us to repair the necessary purchase orders to start the building process as fast as possible. Once all selections have made, we will schedule plan review with your construction manager to review all the details. During the plan review, we will go over the full-size blueprints, specifications, and finishes with you as well a site plan and home placement. When this meeting is completed, it’s time to schedule excavation and get started.
This is where we start to build your home. First we lay the foundation, and don’t worry, a city inspector will be there to approve every step. We work with electricians and plumbers to make sure that everything is up to standard and searching all the hardware wiring for your home. And don’t worry, another city inspection is done again and again. Once the foundation is poured, carpenters will begin the family process. This is where the walls, headers, beams, fortresses, and raptors are engineered to ensure proper structural properties. This is where you actually get to see your house. That’s is all the mechanical matters. All mechanical trades will have their rough and work inspected and then a frame inspection is done to make sure no boards have been cut or move that could cause structural weakness. Upon all approvals, insulation is installed. This is also where exterior masonry comes in. And then, we work on finishing up your home with all of your specifications in mind.
